A coworker brings up a good question:
Will poaching Minneapolis Park and Rec land for practice cross courses hurt the efforts of those trying to get cross racing back in Minneapolis public parks?
Admittedly, it hadn't occurred to me but now I'm apprehensive about putting up a practice course of my own within Minneapolis city limits. I don't want to jeopardize any diplomatic efforts...

what make you think parks and recreation would re-consider an executive decision?....i've already taken the races off my calendar
I certainly don't expect this year's races to be resurrected.
Looking ahead, however, I could see it being an issue. I was thinking in terms of the relationship between mountain bikers and parks officials/land managers -- trail poaching seen as compromising the official efforts to open more trails to mtb riders of organizations like MORC or IMBA.
Still, you could very well be right and I overly cautious. Only one way to find out, I suppose...
